I’m not sure how much of an effect this will have on the theater industry, but it certainly won’t be good for me.
When I arrived at the AMC Theater in Santa Monica, CA last Friday, I was a little nervous, because I’d never actually been to one before.
But the theater was packed and I was ready to see what it was all about.
As I got to the front of the theater, the lady in charge pointed to a screen and said, “This is the new featurette!”
She then asked me what I wanted to watch, and I replied, “I’m watching ‘Dancing With the Stars,'” a show that’s only on the network.
It’s a funny thing.
I’ve watched it on cable, and in fact, I’ll admit to not knowing much about it, but the cast of the show are so diverse and the acting was so good that I figured I’d give it a shot.
And even though I hadn’t been to the theater before, I knew the basic premise: a person must dance with their feet, and if they do, their partner (or someone else) will be awarded points.
After seeing the show, I had no doubt that it would be a hit.
The cast and the dancing and the contestants, it was a perfect match for my lifestyle.
I had been thinking that, and my excitement grew.
When the show was over, the theater owner brought me a glass of wine and asked me, “So, you’re gonna be here a few more times?”
I said, with a grin, “Well, yes, of course!”
She smiled and smiled, then said, in a quiet voice, “We’ve been hearing about this for a while.”
She was right.
I watched the show again on Sunday, and it was incredible.
I can’t believe how much I love this show, and how much the actors have done to bring it to life.
I’m so glad to be a part of it.
